Next-Generation Data Access

SQL Server 2008 is at the door and the same stands for Visual Studio 2008. The data access strategy is changing and you don't know where to start. I gathered some starting resource that you may use for that:

Multe din conceptele care stau la baza "MS - Entity Data Model" se regasesc in metoda (franceza) de proiectare a sistemelor informaţionale si informatice MERISE (care la randul ei se bazeaza pe Entity-Relationship Model partial + ...). Fara suparare, dar sunt lucruri invechite. Cineva poate spune ca nu este obligatoriu, ca tot ce este vechi sa fie perimat/expirat (ex. modelul relational, programarea obiectuala ... ). Tousi "Entity Data Model" intra in contradictie cu valul (moda ?!) prezent din dezvoltatea sistemelor informatice de gestiune, si anume paradigma obiectuala care consta in cresterea utilizarii limbajelor de programare obiectuale (vezi: Java, C#, VB.NET, VB 5/6 & multe altele). Entitatile nu sunt obiecte (din perspectiva abordarii obiectuale) pentru ca nu includ operatii. Un sistem informatic la modul simplist, intr-o viziune sistemica este compus din date + operatii. Cu alte cuvinte "Entity Data Model" reprezinta doar jumate din problema. Unde este cealanta jumatate ... adica operatiile ?

EDM is an ORM. Even inside Microsoft there are disputes if EDM is or isn't neccessary.

In my opinion, at the end of the day - there would be a relational database :)
